Food Around The World - Day 2 / North America

Published on 27 January 2026 at 22:28

Yesterday, we explored Europe and the dishes it had to offer from many different countries. Today, we head West into North America, looking at the different cultures and styles of food from barbecue to tacos.

Places in the USA are known for their barbecues, which include many meats like pork and beef. Some staple foods are the hamburger and macaroni & cheese. These foods may not be the healthiest, but they sure are tasty.

Below the USA is Mexico, home to ingredients like beans and chillies, which can be used in many dishes. Chillis add spice to food, giving it a kick of flavour, and corn can be used not only as an ingredient but also to make dough for wraps and tortillas.

The final stop is to Canada, known for a dish called poutine. This dish consists of fries, cheese and hot gravy poured over. Also, Canada can be recognised for maple syrup, a sweet and great sauce to go with food.

I hope some of the food you have learnt about today has sounded appealing; tomorrow, there will be even more. Tune in next time for a trip to one of the remaining continents we haven't visited. Can you guess where we will go next?
