Award-winning charity, The Boaty Theatre Company, is about to open 'New Place', a hub where your podcast, photography, instrument, showcasing and renting needs are met.

The Boaty Theatre Company, which was founded in 2011, is known for their engaging original Shakespeare productions. Their community work has been recognised as an example of excellence and acknowledged for their hard work by the National Theatre Connections Team and also by the Royal Shakespeare Company for their immersive shows. The company are a diverse group of people, who all work together to put on shows for you. Recently, the company has been looking for new premises and has been lucky to find one.

After a long search for a new home, they’re thrilled to have found the perfect spot on Watergate Street in Chester. ‘New Place’ is open to all, providing a friendly space for creatives of every kind.

The hub features top-quality facilities:
- A podcast & video suite for making professional recordings
- A photography studio, ideal for portraits and creative shoots
- Ed’s Riff Shop, where musicians can practise and experiment
- Regular Scratch Nights, giving performers a chance to try out new material
- A flexible space available for hire for all kinds of events

Alongside these facilities, The Boaty Theatre Company offers services designed to help artists at any stage, including headshot sessions, showreel and voicereel packages, and ongoing creative support.

Artistic Director Laura J. BEM describes New Place as “more than just a building—it’s our new creative home. A place to expand our reach and engage even more with local residents across Cheshire West."

Previously, The Boaty Theatre Company was based at ‘The Boat Shed’ on Whitby Road. About two years ago, they lost their home due to rogue landlords. Instead of giving up, co-founders Laura J Harris BEM and Terasa Newton-Harris BEM turned this challenge into an opportunity, creating a new hub for young performers and spreading positivity throughout their hometown. The local community rallied to support them on this journey.

According to the Ellesmere Port Theatre Company, opening New Place is a true expansion for Boaty, allowing them to keep supporting local talent and keeping the arts alive and thriving in the region.
