The Pink Flamingo Bakery

Last year, we came into contact with an Ellesmere Port bakery, located in Little Sutton, that specialises in not only making delectable cupcakes, mouth-watering cakes and delicious brownies but also selling those sweet treats in a shed! By using a small pink shed, the brain behind the brand sells her personally customised goodies for those who would like a nibble.

In 2014, our owner retired from her large, award-winning catering company in hopes of starting her passion project: The Pink Flamingo Bakery. It once started as her giving treats, baking for her loved ones and local cafes, but over time it grew into a small business. In her words, she states, "I wanted to create something that combined quality, creativity, and a personal touch — handmade bakes that feel special but still affordable."  By doing this, she has been able to make high-quality bakes in small quantities, allowing her to connect with her neighbours and the community around her.

Inspired by the joy that food brings, she takes classic and nostalgic flavours and throws her own fun, modern spin onto them. Seeing the excitement it brings on her customers' faces, pushes her to keep going! As a citizen of Ellesmere Port, she uses local suppliers whenever she can, calling her shed a "hub of kindness, smiles and good cake." It is heartwarming to be part of the small businesses that bring people together, adding a bit of sweetness to their day.

The ultimate goal for the Pink Flamingo Bakery is for it to be run on her own terms. For it to be kept personal and local, and for it to eventually build a loyal following. She would love for it to keep its handmade, small-batch feeling as a fun, friendly spot for people to enjoy something special.

Though us at Ellesmere Port News haven't been able to order from this bakery, it's something we (and you) should definitely do in order to support our local small businesses.
