Word of the day:

Discombobulated

confused and disconcerted.

"he is looking a little pained and discombobulated"

Throughout history, many different monarchs (leaders/nobles) have risen to power, but what is their job?

Going through the centuries, the roles of monarchs have changed; they are completely different from today's rulers.

Going back many hundreds of years, the role of the king was to make important decisions for the country as well as important battle tactics.
Usually the monarch would fight alongside their troops in battle, wearing their crown to show everyone who they were.

In modern day, the role of the monarch is completely different and does none of the above jobs aside from making important decisions.
King Charles, our current monarch, has less power than the old monarchs, but that doesn't mean he has no power.

The king has the ability to knight any people who have done great things for the country, and this is a well-known achievement that comes with high praise.
Also, the King needs to approve any law that is decided by the houses of parliament and sometimes even heads there himself.

It is important to remember that the monarch and royal family are still very important, powerful and great people even if they don't make all the decisions.
