What is climate change? And why is it an issue?

Ever since the 1800s, human activities such as burning fossil fuels and oil have made the temperature of the Earth rise. When we burn fossil fuels and oil, greenhouse gases are emitted into the atmosphere (enter) and heat the earth up. Imagine getting covered in layers of blankets; you get hotter and hotter until it becomes too much.

For proof of this, the Earth's surface has gotten 1.42°C warmer since the 1800s, which is a faster increase than ever recorded before. In the decade temperatures have also risen the most, and extremely hot days have been recorded in most countries.

Other than you feeling the heat more, rising temperatures have many other serious issues. One of the main issues is icebergs in the ocean are melting, which destroys the habitats of creatures like polar bears. If this continues, then these species can be threatened to the point of extinction.

It may seem hard to help out, but there are ways that everyone can get involved to help stop climate change. We can change the way we get energy; for example, wind turbines and solar panels are great sources of renewable energy. If you can, you can also change how you get from A to B, like riding bikes, scooters and even electric cars.

If we don't act soon, in the future we will all pay the price, and it will be harder to resolve then. If we can all work together to resolve this now, resources and ourselves will be saved.

Help now and support the movement; we can make a change together!
