Young boy, Hunter, prevents fire

While walking through Whitby Park, a young boy, Hunter Grannell, and his mother spotted smoke in the nearby trees. The heroic duo investigated and soon found a pit, full of logs and covered with a metal sheet. It was a fire.

Hunter immediately jumped into action, phoning the police, who soon sent the local fire service. It took a whole 30 minutes to put out the extreme flames, although the heat led to the embers relighting. The fire service managed to get rid of the remaining flames safely, preventing further damage, as the fire likely would have spread to nearby dry grass. The firefighters even let Hunter put out the last of the embers after ensuring it was safe for him to do so!

When asked how he felt throughout the experience, Hunter answered:

“I was really worried that our dogs might get hurt, but I felt proud that I helped stop the fire from getting worse.”

Thank you, Hunter Grannell, for preventing what could have been a devastating fire.
