Dan’s Good Wood Shop is a family-run local company in Hooton, Ellesmere Port, specialising in making wooden furniture and other products. Every year, they support a local charity or community project – last year’s being The Cupboard, a food bank in Ellesmere Port.
This year, they were approached by a professional parent of a young girl in care to create a sensory water wall to help support her needs. With support from other brilliant local businesses, they were able to design and build a double-sided sensory wall. One side holds a calming water feature, and the other side is a hands-on interactive space with various features to stimulate the senses. The wall is fully complete, delivered and already helping make a difference. In a statement on their Facebook, they described the excitement of the young girl receiving the sensory wall and her gift of two handwritten cards for the makers. Moments like this display the importance of kindness and supporting the community.
