Jake Cliff

I'm the CEO of Ellesmere Port News, the #1 most successful child run newspaper in Cheshire. Here, I believe that positive is the strongest outlook on life.

At the early age of 12, I created this news outlet in help people see happiness in everything they do. I see people every day who need kindness, we hope to show them this. I've found balance between school and the newspaper, now I am more confident than ever to show people what I want as a resident of Ellesmere Port. In my spare time, I like updating the website with new information and going on walks.

I hope by making this, I can inspire younger people and to prove that the quote "You can do anything you set your mind to" by Benjamin Franklin is true.

Ellesmere Port kids light up resident's faces at their school show

A cast of Ellesmere Port kids lit up many people's faces after their two performances at the Ellesmere Port C of E College. The show had a lot of effort put into it, and was performed exceptional and professionally by the students. There was definitely nothing amateur about this show. Each child was taking part, either singing, playing musical instruments or acting. It felt like something straight out of a Broadway show; I couldn't believe my eyes. I could see how much practice and time they had taken to get it perfect for the residents of their local town. My favourite part, which many can agree with me on, was the final performance. All of the students were stood on the stairs, clapping; creating audience participation, meanwhile the main characters were on stage. The actors had clearly enjoyed it more than anyone, smiles throughout the whole show were seen by the theatregoers. During the break in the middle, each person was complimenting the cast and it was nice to see how everybody came together as a community.

Andrew's event will take place at Whitby Park, any night in March. Although it is only 1 night, he will be doing it for 3 nights; just to give the charity more awareness to the public and hopefully more donations. He has previously done the sleep out, and raised just over £300, but this year his goal is to raise £1000.

Ellesmere Port Group Crafty Way to Donate to Hospitals & Charities

An Ellesmere Port Group, Leanne & Friends Crocheting and Knitting for charity, donates several items in which interest people who 'need it most'. In a message that Leanne had sent us she stated that "I have a team of volunteers, including myself, who make different items depending on which items interest them most and their skill level." The inspiring group has been up for only 10 months, but so far they have donated to Chester Hospital and Arrowe Park. A lot of their items are sent to more specialist charity support groups who collect specific items, as well as some charities directly. Over the last few months, there has been a large influx of people joining their page and making items for them to donate to both local and country wide charities, including baby NICUs, Clatterbridge Cancer Centre and homeless charities etc.
