An Ellesmere Port Community Interest Company has the aim to stop knife crime in our area.

The KnockOut Violence Project, which has been carried out by Blades Down and Gloves Not Gangs, supports young people in a fight to stop knife crime in the local area. Their boxing fitness sessions offer a safe space for locals motivated by the tragedy of knife crime. Alongside fitness programs, the project educates young people about knife crime's consequences through workshops and mentoring. These sessions empower youth with knowledge, conflict resolution skills, and inspire positive choices, fostering a safer, united community.
The Ellesmere Port group representative voluntarily leads Blades Down to fight knife violence. They raise awareness and encourages dialogue on weapon dangers, especially for youth. Blades Down also partners with local schools, community groups & charities, police and local authorities and mental health & wellbeing services to host workshops, teaching conflict resolution. These sessions empower safer choices and promote community responsibility.

Lewis, a member of the Wirral CP Boxing Club family, told us that, "It's inspiring all of the things they teach you not to do. It really sinks in and helps you become a better person". Another member, Reggie, told us, "Fools take knives and stab people in the back, whilst the wise take a knife, cut the cord and set themselves free from the fools". These thoughtful and heartfelt statements from the young people at the boxing club powerfully highlight the profound and transformative impact of the invaluable lessons they have learned, both within the ring and beyond it in their everyday lives.
