The PCF needs to hear from parents in Cheshire West and Cheshire with young people (aged 0-25) who have SEND or additional needs. This can be with or without a diagnosis, or maybe not yet identified. This can be done easily by completing an anonymous survey which will be used to help shape and improve future services in health, education, social care and the community. These results will directly influence, inform and measure progress in the SEND strategy 2026/27 so your voice matters.
What is the SEND strategy?
SEND stands for Special Education Needs and Disabilities and includes children and young people (0-25) who have learning difficulties or disabilities that require extra support. The SEND strategy is a local plan which works on improving identification and support for young people with SEND and often involves extensive consultations with families and professionals, and now you get to have your part in it.
Currently, if you think your child may have special educational needs, you can contact the SEN co-ordinator, or ‘SENCO’ in your child’s school, or the local council if your child is not in school. By doing this, your child may be eligible for; SEN support (support given in school e.g. speech therapy) or an education, health and care (EHC) plan which helps young people who have more complex needs.
