What Is The Impact Of Artificial Intelligence (AI) On Society?

In this article, we will discuss the positive and negative effects that AI has on modern-day society.

Artificial Intelligence, AI, gives humans the ability to explore other ideas and create different images and videos. AI has been used widely and has seen an increase in usage since 2023, when it became popular for its AI paintings. In a survey held by the government, it was shown that 68% of businesses in the UK adopted at least one AI software in 2023.

AI is positive and good for the environment, as it influences how we think. This means it offers benefits such as economic growth and productivity, improved healthcare, enhanced efficiency and automation, personalised experiences on websites and apps, solving complex problems, like mathematical equations, and reducing human error. AI quickly completes tasks, meaning that more people will be able to focus on difficult problems, freeing up more time for them.

AI is negative and bad for the environment, as it can result in some really tricky situations, including job displacement and economic inequality. AI has been used by many to generate images that can harm others or to create fear amongst some people. AI is also used to write. Many newspapers now have artificial intelligence writing articles for them, which can generate misinformation and can cause a stir – but don't worry, we do not use AI! Artificial intelligence can also be described as bad, as it can stop those trying to learn, as it can be tempting to use it on schoolwork or homework, making the teacher think they are more capable than they actually are.

Overall, I think AI is bad, as it can affect many people in ways it shouldn't. But also see the flip side, where it can be good because of its support. Four in ten people think that artificial intelligence is positive, whilst three in ten think that artificial intelligence is negative. As you read this article, the use of AI is growing; at the time of writing this, nearly half of the United Kingdom is using AI.
