The Old Council Building's Demolition

A rising question that residents of Ellesmere Port and even I myself have been asking is, "What is going on with the council buildings?"
In a recent interview, we spoke to site manager Jake Whitehurst, who told us the demolition process has started but is yet to finish for a couple of weeks. They have mentioned that the method they are using to demolish the buildings will be via high-rise excavator. Ahead of time, a "dust buster" will be used which will fire water, removing any dust, reducing the risk of dust explosions (sawdust, lint, dust catching on fire).
Unfortunately, this will cause some temporary disruptions to road and bus routes. Although the extent of the disruption will be determined by the specific demolition plan, it's wise to watch out for any potential change in bus routes/stops, road closures and increased traffic congestion. However, once completed, the empty space will be turned into council housing and living spaces for all the residents of Ellesmere Port.
Here are some answers to frequently asked questions below:
Can residents watch them get demolished?
Possibly, but it will be over a course of a couple weeks as it is being removed with a high rise excavator
Where will the bricks that have been taken off be put?
They will most likely be recycled or reused but the demolition team cannot confirm yet.
Will the Normandy Memorial be safe?
As shown in their planning permissions, yes.
Will all trees be cut down?
All trees will be retained where possible.
Is the bomb shelter under the council offices included in the demolition?
No, they have planned to remove the bomb shelter.
During the upcoming weeks of the demolition, hopefully we will be updated soon.
